DENVER (KDVR) — A group of climbers helped an unusual partner after they belayed an elk down an ice wall in Lake City.

In early January, climbers saw a distressed bull elk caught in a climbing rope. The elk’s antlers were tangled in the rope as it was lying in the snow, unable to leave. After seeing the elk, the climbers called a Lake City wildlife officer, who called in for backup.
