DENVER (KDVR) — As of 2025, touching or holding a phone without a hands-free device while driving is banned in Colorado. Within the first few months since the law was enacted, nearly 100 drivers were cited.
On Jan. 1, Senate Bill 24-065 went into effect to expand the ban on the use of cell phones while driving. Previous Colorado law said only drivers under 18 years old were banned from using cell phones, now, that law has expanded to all drivers.
