Colorado joins multi-state effort to block Trump’s military deployment in California

DENVER, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser joined leaders from 20 states supporting California’s request for a court to block President Donald Trump’s deployment of that state’s National Guard.
This comes after the White House announced that Trump was deploying 2,000 California National Guard troops to Los Angeles after clashes between hundreds of protesters and federal immigration authorities.
The lawsuit calls Trump’s federalization and deployment of the troops “unlawful, unconstitutional, and undemocratic.”
The states claim that the action pulls service members away from preparing for and responding to emergencies, and that the states are not in a position to replace them.
