Phone call saves stranded climbers who ended up on Sleeping Sexton

Two stranded hikers in the Maroon‑Bells Snowmass Wilderness were able to find their way out of steep terrain after making a phone call.

DENVER (KDVR) — Two stranded hikers in the Maroon‑Bells Snowmass Wilderness were able to find their way out of steep terrain after making a phone call.

On Sunday, the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office said two stranded climbers called dispatch for help around 4:15 p.m. after they went off the route on North Maroon and ended up north of the peak on Sleeping Sexton in the Maroon‑Bells Snowmass Wilderness.
